3 simple ways to cherish yourself this weekend

Weekends can often be filled to the brim with errands, family commitments, and social occasions, particularly when you’re trying to juggle it all between getting out there for a wave. Whatever you decide to get up to, we’re here to gently remind you to take some time to find joy in something simple. Here are 3 simple ideas to pause, rest and gift yourself what you need. 

  1. Right now in Aotearoa, we’re in the midst of the cold season. Why not celebrate everything that screams wintertime? Cosy slippers, fluffy beanies, hot water bottles, steaming mugs of hot cocoa. Bring all the warm and snuggly experiences into your home and enjoy them with wild abandon. 

  2. Give your surf-battered skin some tender-loving care. Putting moisturiser or body oil on your skin can often be a quick and thoughtless task. Turn it into a slow and soothing ritual by taking your time to apply some beautiful-smelling lotion. The skin, after all, is the largest organ of our body - it’s essential to look after it! Particularly when it’s been exposed to the salt and sun.

  3. Romanticise your meal. Rather than simply plonking your food on a plate, we encourage you to take a little extra time to consider your presentation and setting. Light a candle. Pull out some fancy napkins. Decorate your dish with edible flowers. It's the small touches that make all the difference! Even when it comes to a simple plate of toast or a bowl of warming oatmeal. Serve it in your favourite dish, and smile while you enjoy it.
