It’s in the simple things
Rugged West Coast
Dense native bush
Captured as a beautiful painting
The waves are roaring
Snapping leg ropes
Swimming in
Somehow surviving
Silk waves on the east
Slow and steady
Dancing along gracefully
With the exception of nosediving
Kooking it multiple times
Being washing astray
Despite one wave sessions
Coming out early the next day
A winters day in Aotearoa
Sun rising, rain falling
The wetsuit is cold
And the waves are pumping
Purple lips, nippy toes
Line up of larks
Like me
A bit crazy
A long black to finish
Warmth traveling down my body
Acts as a disguise
Of the burnt percolator coffee
