12 things every surfer needs in their car
Some might argue that all you need to surf is a surfboard and someone willing to glide in the ocean; however, we've learned that having a few handy bits and bobs in the car can be wonderfully convenient for your surfing routine.
A poncho towel for changing quickly and discreetly.
An extra leash just in case your current one snaps. Nothing kills a surf session quicker than snapping your leash!
A waterproof watch so that you can stay in the water for as long as possible. Or at least, a friend who has a watch.
Sunblock in all seasons. Zinc is a classic surf essential. We love Sol, made here in Aotearoa.
A surf hat, even in winter! It's essential to look after your precious skin (guess what we're releasing this week!).
Your favorite board plus a spare one for tackling different-sized waves. You can't always trust the surf report!
A repair kit including solarez or duct tape for unexpected dings. Extra wax and a comb is essential, too.
A bottle of restorative hair oil to gently rub into your salty hair post-surf. We love Salty Susan, also made here in Aotearoa using all-natural ingredients. It smells heavenly.
A large bucket for holding all your wet stuff afterwards.
Surf snacks! Check out our recipe for peanut butter granola slice, or apricot fudge bars.
A few bottles of water - handy for a parched mouth post-surf and rinsing sandy feet before squeezing out of your wetsuit.
And lastly, during wintertime, a hot water bottle and a flask of tea is a must! You might even like to fill an additional flask with warm water to pour over your freezing toes and fingers before you get dressed. The ultimate luxury post-surf.
Ps. It goes without saying that we recommend a Lady Waves wetsuit as an essential! Enjoy browsing our range here.
